Nicola Piovani was born in Rome, where he has always lived and worked, in 1946.  A multifaceted musician, he has expressed his creativitỳ in several musical genres, including music for film.  The soundtrack he composed for the feature film "N.P. il segreto" by Silvano Agosti kicked off his career as an author of music for cinema, for which he composed more than 200 soundtracks working with prestigious Italian and foreign directors, including for Cinevox Record "Il marchese del grillo," "Flavia la monaca musulmana," "I fratelli De Filippo" (with which he won the David di Donatello in 2022 for best soundtrack with original music), and "Le mie ragazze di carta." .  In 1971 he composed four hands with Fabrizio De André the albums "Non al denaro, non all'amore né al cielo" which was followed by "Storia di un impiegato". After that, he composes numerous songs, many of which are collected in 2013 in an album entitled “Piovani cantabile”.  In addition to music for film and songs, his talent and versatility have also led him to work for theater and concert music.   Since his early days, he has written stage music for major theater productions, collaborating with directors such as Carlo Cecchi and Vittorio Gassman. He has also composed for musical comedy, creating soundtracks for shows such as "The Seven Kings of Rome" and "Concha Bonita." In musical theater, he has created works such as "La cantata del fiore" and "Viaggi di Ulisse." In addition to his theater work, Piovani has composed several concert works, including "Reflex," "Epic Ballad," and "Symphony of Seasons." In 2022, he conducted his opera "Amorosa presenza" at the Giuseppe Verdi Theater in Trieste. He is currently Resident Artist of the Fondazione Musica Per Roma and Full Academician of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.
